Why anonymous polls work
They remove the biggest blocker: sign-up friction. For casual groups, “no account needed” increases participation.
Best practices
- Use first names or nicknames (no emails required)
- Keep the poll short (7–14 days)
- Send one reminder + a clear deadline
- Close the poll after deciding and share the final date
Keep it fair
If you see duplicate names, ask people to update their display name so results are easy to interpret.
Privacy checklist
- Don’t ask for emails if you don’t need them
- Avoid collecting more data than required (name + votes is enough)
- Share the link only with the intended group
What to tell voters
“Use a recognizable nickname and mark Yes/Maybe/No honestly. We’ll pick the top day after the deadline.”
Optional sign-in
If you use SSO, signed-in users can keep identity across devices — but it should stay optional.
